Since our establishment in 2005, A Simple Gesture has been a leader in the industry. We have consistently provided high-quality products and services to our customers, and have earned a reputation for excellence in the market.
Our mission at A Simple Gesture is to provide superior products and services to our customers, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism. We are committed to building lasting relationships with our clients, and working together to achieve success.
Our team at A Simple Gesture is made up of experienced professionals who are passionate about what they do. We work together to provide exceptional service to our customers, and strive to exceed expectations every day.
Your community has many active non-profits, church's, professional and social clubs, and organizations of all types. Almost all of them are either directly supporting a special cause or have one that means a great deal to them. The "Incentive Campaign" is where we ask these organizations to ask their network of contacts to register for the Simple Gesture program in their community. Many organizations will agree to do that on the merits of what Simple Gesture does, and also knowing many of their contacts will gladly participate.
The "Incentive" is that we want to add extra motivation to the organization to get their full effort as they communicate to their network of contacts. This incentive is that we will donate an amount (usually its $5) to their cause or to a cause they designate.
For example, a Church may love what Simple Gesture does. And they may even have their own pantry, or are thinking to start a pantry. They need money to buy racks and tables. At their Sunday Sermon the pastor explains that a table is set up outside, and as they leave if they stop by to register two great things happen; 1 ) they can now be a donor for a Simple Gesture program, and 2) the Church will receive $5 per registered donor to help buy those racks.
The table out front might have a member of your Program's leadership team to answer questions, but at the very least it would have signs with QR codes and other ways to register. You get these codes and links from the "Simple Gesture Event Manager" program. (you can read more about that in the Help Guide).
The system is actually very straight forward; when someone uses that link or QR code to register our system creates a report for that Event Manager to send to that organization. Not only can we track how many register, we can also show them reports for years to come to demonstrate how many pounds and dollars those donors accounted for as the events occur.
There are many people trying to do good things, making it hard for the donor to know which is better.
It only takes 15 or 20 minutes to convince just about anyone that "Simple Gesture" is a great way to help others. It's easy, convenient, and impactful. If you can take the time to sit with a Club President or Pastor they are likely to love the idea.
If they can then network to their contacts there is an immediate creditability to Simple Gesture that may not be so easy to establish when sending an email to someone. When it comes from someone they know and trust it is more likely to be a good idea.
The other reason it works is these groups want to do good things already; that's why they were formed in the first place. If we can help their cause it's a chance to offer a thank you for their support. Our goal is to get the donor to sign up, if we can aid them in their cause all the better.
To make it work the Brand Partner has to buy in, and that's really the main challenge to getting these incentive campaigns to work. Most of these funding sources are used to giving money to food donation programs. Those typically offer to take $1 and make $2 to $4 of benefit. We can demonstrate, factually, how we can take $1 and make $60 of benefit, it's a return ratio that is unheard of in the charitable giving arena. Learn more about how to prepare for and present this program to a Brand Partner by clicking this link.
The first thing to do is probably the hardest; finding the Financial Support to pay for the program. Send us an email and we can share our latest financial figures, but as a general summary it costs about $9.30 the first year and around $2 for subsequent years for a donor to join. These costs cover the reusable bags (including replacement bags for the future), information cards that sometimes go out with the bags, the "incentive cost" that we will get into more below, and the system/transactional costs for Simple Gesture.
If your program is unable to pay for the systems costs, we will provide those without a fee however you will not have the same frequency of emails or text messages to your donors and drivers that we'd prefer. And depending on how many programs we are supporting, we may or may not be able to provide route optimization since we pay a "per doorstep" fee for that technology. You also do not need the reusable bags, but in many cases that is the reason you'll find a branding partner; they will want the great advertising and brand identify that comes from this program.
Go to the "Brand Partner" page to learn much more about this very important topic.
Once you have a Brand Partner and you can figure out your exact "per donor financial cost" (contact us and we can help you build this for your situation) you can then go to step 2; which is finding the organization that will ask their network of contacts to register. You can read more about that in the "Email Campaign" below. There is also some info in "Tabletops", although that method often doesn't need the incentive to get an organization to support what you are doing.
One way to do an "Incentive Campaign" is by email.
First, go to "Simple Gesture Event Manager", click the ADMIN dropdown and select "Incentive Campaign". This opens a form where you enter the supporting organization (lets say its a Rotary Club), the name of their cause (for example; "Repairing Park Trails", the donation amount ($5), and the sponsor of the donation (for example; "Community Bank").
You get;
Next, send that "Sample Email" to the organization that has agreed to send to their network of contacts. They key thing is for that organization to find its own words to express how important it is to them. The more then can talk about the value of Simple Gesture and the importance of the donation to their cause the better.
The message to the potential donor can be very powerful and very personal. They get to do two great things; be a part of the Simple Gesture program and help their organization do something it is trying to do.

One group we work with tracks their results closely; They will set up in front of a grocery store with a team of 1-3 people. Last. year they had 114 events that lasted about 3 hours each. They averaged 200 pounds of food collected at that site per hour, and a sign up rate of 13 donors per hour.
